In an effort to promote their tenet that ‘improv is for everyone’, CSz Milwaukee is reaching out into the diverse communities that are under represented in the current company. CSz Milwaukee is pleased to announce that they will be awarding four full scholarships to members of these communities for their adult education program for the 2020 calendar year, wherein students learn the art of improvisation, and are taught it through the unique ComedySportz format. Each scholarship will include all four levels to their program - the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Continuing courses. There is no experience required to take these courses.

In these workshops, students not only learn improvisation and the ComedySportz format, but they also engage with other people, establishing connections and friendships in an inclusive and safe environment where many folks step out of their comfort shells and learn more about themselves, and others. Taking a workshop is fun, but also has benefits that are proven to develop crucial soft skills (public speaking, social connectivity, confidence, and more) for personal and professional self-development.

Recipients of the scholarship will have free access to the courses for the entire calendar year of 2020 - the classes run consecutively throughout the year. Each course is eight weeks, with seven weeks of instruction and the final week a free showcase where they perform what they have learned for friends and family.  The recipient of the scholarship must take each course in order. The only qualification required is that the entrant has to be 18 years of age by the first day their workshops begin. Absolutely anyone above the age of 18 is allowed to submit an essay.

Simple essays can be submitted by hand or typed out, by drop-off or through mail or email, to CSz Milwaukee by Monday, December 2nd, 2019, at 5:00pmThese essays should address the question of how the scholarship would affect you (personally, professionally, socially, etc.). There is no requirements for the length, font, or style of essay – all we ask is that it helps you express yourself in the best way possible. Please include your name and a way to contact you, either via phone or email. Essays can be emailed to, or can be sent via mail to:

The recipients of these scholarships will be notified by the end of that week.

There will be an informational meeting and a free workshop that will be run by the company’s Artistic Director, Jake Shaw, on Sunday, November 6th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Here the scholarship will be explained in further detail, an opportunity for questions will take place, and then a workshop of the basic foundations of improvisation will be offered at no charge.
